(ARA) - In addition to the glitz and glamour that brings plenty of tourists and gamblers to Las Vegas, the city also contains many fabulous collections of art - from the psychedelic to the contemporary and everything in between.
Galleries can be found all around the city, tucked into several Las Vegas hotels, showcasing famous pieces from all around the world. If you're looking for art, make sure you put a trip to Las Vegas on your list.
Make sure you check out the galleries located in Las Vegas hotels. The Neil Leifer Gallery in Augustus Tower at Caesars Palace features memorable sports photographs taken by Neil Leifer, including shots he took of Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston and Secretariat winning the Kentucky Derby. The gallery is open daily from 1 to 9 p.m.
Caesars Palace also has the Peter Max Art Gallery located in the Forum Shops. This gallery displays colorful and psychedelic art by Peter Max from the 1960s, in addition to digitally enhanced photographs taken by Peter Lik.
If you're looking for fine art, don't miss out on the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. This collection rotates frequently, but you can expect to see sculptures, fine paintings and other impressive work from artists internationally renowned.
Planet Hollywood has four exhibits art lovers should definitely check out. The Hollywood Obsessions Gallery in the hotel's lobby features entertainment artifacts from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. And the Indian River Gallery located in the Miracle Mile Shops features a collection of unique artwork and jewelry from the southwest. This gallery features pottery, jewelry, rugs, baskets, paintings and sculptures.
Also located in the Miracle Mile Shops is the Oh My Godard Gallery, which highlights the sins we love to frown upon. This display highlights Michael Godard's "Sin is In" series of martinis, dice rolling and cigar smoking.
If you're into marine art, the Wyland Galleries of Las Vegas is the final art gallery located in Las Vegas hotels you'll want to check out. Not only featuring Wyland's masterpieces, this gallery also showcases James Coleman who was a top Disney artist for 22 years, John Pitre, a surrealism artist, Jim Warren and Steven Powers.
There are many other galleries ranging from the soft, magical colors of Thomas Kinkade at the Regal Art Gallery to all different styles of cut, colored and etched glass at the Glass Artistry, Inc.
